Abstract
284,564. Scaffolding (Great Britain), Ltd., and Jones, D. Palmer-. Sept. 20, 1927. Pedestal stands.-A telescopic prop is formed of an outer cylindrical section 2 and an inner cylindrical section 1 passing into the outer section, the parts being held in extensible adjusted position by a loose clutch plate 5 disposed in the outer section above a closure 4 and having a conical aperture through which the inner cylindrical section of the prop passes. The inner section is gripped between diametrically opposed cutting edges of the narrow conical opening of the clutch plate, which is further provided with an extension 6 passing through a slot 7 in the outer section so that the clutch plate may be held flat to allow the parts to be adjusted. A pivoted bearer plate. 9 is provided at the upper end of the prop and a fine screw-adjustment plate 11 at the lower end, and the prop is rotated as a whole for final adjustment.
