Abstract
512,103. Finishing interior grooves. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG - NURNBERG AKT.-GES. Nov. 29, 1938, No. 34778. Convention date, Nov. 29, 1937. [Class 60] A tool for finish grinding grooves in the interior of hollow bodies comprises a chuck spindle 1 carrying by means of a thrust ballbearing 3 a tool body 5 having secured therein by a screw 7 a guide bolt 8 In the body 5 are a number of slide members 9 guided at their lower ends by slot: in a bush 11 secured to the bolt 8, each member 9 having thereon inclined surfaces 9a. The inclined surfaces on each member are engaged by a carrier 28, the carriers being guided by radial slots in the body 5, and each having a pivot 30 on which is rotatably mounted a holder 31 to which is secured a grinding stone 32; the carriers are pressed inwardly by springs 29. Axial movement of the members 9 is effected by a cable 12, the ends of which are secured at 15 to a member 16' slidable on the bolt- 8 and pressed by a spring 18 adjustable by an abutment nut 17 screwed on the member 16. The cable is passed zig-zag over a pulley 13 in each member 9 and a corresponding pulley 14 in the member 16, this arrangement allowing each member 9 to move independently of the other members to an extent depending on the depth of the appropriate groove. For retracting the members 9, each carries a stud 23 having thereon a nut 24 bearing on a ring 25 engaged by a nut 26 screwed on the body 5. A guide ring 22 is secured on the body 5. Oblique grooves'and grooves of variable pitch may be ground.
