[Class 60] In a jig or fixture for profiling grinding wheels, tools &c. of the type in which a holder 10 is angularly movable about each of two independent parallel axes and can be displaced radially with respect to the first axis which in turn can be displaced relative to the second to form blending curved surfaces or straight surfaces blending into curved surfaces, the holder 10 is radially movable on and angularly movable through 360 degrees around the axis of a table 17 which is itself radially movable on and angularly movable through 360 degrees around the axis of a base table 22 the axes of the two tables being parallel and each being graduated in degrees and provided with adjustable stops for defining its angular movement and means for clamping it in any desired angular position. The pillar 11 in which the diamond holder 10 is clamped is angularly adjustable on a slide 13 slidably adjustable by a micrometer 16 in a bar 15. The bar 15 is secured to the table 17 which is rotatably mounted on a block 18 which is secured to or is shaped to form a slide guided in a bar 21 secured to a table 22 which is rotatably mounted on a base block 23 about an axis parallel to that of the table 17. The setting of the block 18 is controlled by calibrated blocks 24 and a micrometer 26. The base block 23 is secured by clamps on a slide 30 which is movable on a base 31 by means of a micrometer 32 and can be locked by a finger lever 33. The radial setting of the diamond point relative to the axis of the table 17 may be checked by a micrometer head detachably mounted on the table. For profiling grooves of small radius in the surface of a grinding wheel the slide 13 is set radially on the table 17 which is rotated through the required angle while the table 22 is held stationary. For grooves of larger radius the table 22 may be rotated while the table 17 is held stationary. For more complex surfaces movements of both tables may be utilised after, appropriate settings.
