Abstract
512,059. Stapling continuous filaments. GROVES, W. W. (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges.). Jan. 28, 1938, No. 2773. [Class 120 (iii)] In the production of slivers capable of being drawn from continuous artificial filaments, the filaments are formed into a sleeve which travels over and rotates with the surface of a cylinder Z, and is cut along a helical line by one or more knives M, the filaments being simultaneously subjected to the action of a draft device. The sleeve is held against the cylinder surface by the ring R and roller D, and is delivered by the draft, rollers V. When more than one knife is employed, each is provided with its own draft rollers. By adjusting the speed of rotation to the speed of travel of the sleeve, the staple length of the cut fibres may be regulated. Specification 509,406 is referred to.
