Abstract

511,876. Magnets. WHITELEY, A. H., and CATHERALL, A. C. June 27, 1938, No. 8956. [Class 35] [Also in Groups XXV and X. In means for holding and preventing rattling of a door or window by the attraction between a permanent magnet and an armature, the magnet member comprises one or a pair of magnets 2a, 2b clamped between plates 3 of mild steel and secured in a non-magnetic case 1 adapted to be fixed by screws &c. Fig. 3 shows the magnet mounted on the door jamb 4 and a co-operating armature-plate 6 mounted on the door 5. As applied to a sliding window the magnet 2, Fig. 6, carried by the window, is mounted to allow limited movement in the case 1 and is urged outwards by spring 11, this construction allowing for slight irregularities in the fixed armature plate, not shown, along which the magnet is slidable.
