Abstract

510,365. Rasping-apparatus. BORSAKOVSKY, V. Feb. 8, 1938, No. 3899. Convention date, Feb. 20, 1937. [Class 59] [Also in Group I] A machine for disintegrating the cellulose walls of the protein layer of grains from which the pericarp has been removed comprises a number of identical elements 1 mounted on a hollow shaft 2 and slowly rotated. Each element is cylindrical in shape being formed by stamped sheet metal side plates 6 having outer boundary plates 8, interspaced partitions 7, and spiral transverse partitions 5 of abrasive material by which each element is divided into compartments 4. Openings 9, 11, in the walls of the elements and in the partitions permit the grain, which is introduced through a hopper 13 in an end plate 14, to pass through the machine, the treated grain escaping through an outlet 17. The light material detached from the grain is sucked through annular sieves 10 and carried away through the hollow shaft to be added, if desired, to the flour produced by ordinary milling from the grain passing through the outlet 17.
