Abstract
428,221. Impact pulverizers. DREW, W., and EDGE, M. T., Albion Iron Works, Leigh, Lancashire. Nov. 9, 1933, No. 31178. [Class 59] In a pulverizer for grain, biscuits, cloves, &c., of the kind having beaters pivotally supported eccentrically of the driving shaft and rotatable in a grinding chamber provided with a perforated base or screen, the beaters increase in length from both ends of the grinding chamber towards the middle and the perforated base or screen is correspondingly shaped. As shown, four rods 15 are mounted in four discs 10 secured to the driving shaft 3 and carry beaters 14 spaced apart by sleeves 15 on the rods. The length of the beaters increase from each end toward the centre and the sieve 16 is shaped in accordance with the beaters. The end beaters have outturned ends 14<a> and a cover 6<a> in the end wall is removable for changing the screen, &c. The feed hopper 22 has an inverted V-shaped bottom 23 and two feed outlets 24, 25 provided with adjustable pivoted valves 26, 27 through which the material is supplied to each end of the rotor. The crushed material passes through the sieve to an outlet 21.
