462,705. Sifting-apparatus. HOBART MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 29, 1936, No. 2690. Convention date, Feb. 4, 1935. [Class 117] A flour sifter comprises a sieve 16 of cylindrical shape provided with a charging opening in its upper side and held stationary in a cylindrical casing 10. A batch of flour is fed into the sieve from a hopper 21 and is agitated and caused to pass through the sieve into the annular space 31 by oscillating bars 39 and brushes 43. Continuously rotating paddles or scoops 30 working in the space 31 return the sifted material to the sieve and the process is repeated until the flower has attained the desired degree of lightness when it is discharged from the casing by withdrawing the slide 22.
