Abstract

510,118. Medicines ; calcium salts. WULFING, G. A. R. VON, and ROSSKOTHEN, E. M. H., (trading as WULFING, J. A.). Aug. 8, 1938, No. 23386. Convention date, Aug. 6, 1937. [Class 81(i)] [Also in Group IV] Stable solutions of organic calcium salts suitable for parenteral injection are prepared by adding malic acid or a sodium salt thereof to the solutions of the calcium salts. The malic acid or malate may be added to hot solutions of the calcium salts, and the malate may be prepared in situ. Examples are given of the treatment of calcium lactate and calcium sodium lactate solutions. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers also to the use of other organic hydroxyacids and their salts instead of malic acid, mandelic acid and salts thereof being specified. An example of the treatment of calcium gluconate solution with sodium malate is also included. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
