Description
Process for the preparation of intravenous injectable preparations against Bilharzia. The bilharzia is so far almost exclusively with intravenous injections treated by antimony preparations, especially emetic tartar. This therapy is but not very satisfactory, because it only leads to frequent relapses after a long period of time interrupted duration for improvement.
Man nimmt z. The effect of antimony can be increased by combining it with alkali salts of z-phenylquinoline-q.-carboxylic acid or its derivatives. However, it has been shown that solutions containing emetic tartar and the sodium salt of 2-phenylquinoline [carboxylic acid or 6-methylquinoline [carboxylic acid] show precipitates after some time and are therefore unsuitable for the intended purpose. On the other hand, as has been found, stable injectable solutions can be produced if the carboxylic acids in question are used as a starting point and an organic base, preferably hexamethylenetetramine, is added in excess to their combination with emetic tartar. One takes z. B. to 0.5 g of 2-phenylquinoline-q.-carboxylic acid and o, o3 to o, o6 g of tartar emetic about 1.5 g of hexamethylenetetramine and dissolve the mixture in water.
