[Class 51 (ii)] [Also in Group XVI] Feeding of an ingot to the melting-pot of a metal-casting machine is controlled by a cable suspended float in the pot which, when the liquid level falls, rotates a pawl 20 pivoted to a constantly oscillating spring-controlled arm 17 driven by the machine, into engagement with a similar spring-controlled lever 15, oscillations of which, by moving a pinion 11, permit the ratchet controlled drum 4 to turn under the weight of an ingot fastened to the end of a cable wound round it. The drum surface may be inset with friction material.
