Abstract
508,902. Endless-belt conveyers. MAVOR & COULSON, Ltd., and THOMSON, J. April 29, 1938, No. 12814. [Class 78 (i)] In conveyers having sectional framework, the sections are engageable against separation longitudinally and laterally by the action of laying them down in their proper relationship, and are thereafter locked against disengagement in the vertical direction by the action of fitting into their operative positions idler rollers for supporting the upper run of the belt. Each section B, Fig. 1, is an inverted trough and is supported at its ends by stools A of similar character. The ends of each section are enlarged and formed with corrugations 9 to engage ribs 6 and projections 7 on the stools. Each side roller 3, Fig. 2, of the roller assembly is mounted on a vertical pivot 4 which carries a horizontal bar 5. During assembly of the sections, the rollers 3 are swung so that the bars 5 extend transversely of the conveyer. When the sections are in position on the stools, the rollers are swung into their operative position, and the bars then extend over the adjacent ends of two sections. The spindle of each roller is hinged to the top of its pivot for movement in a vertical plane in order that its free end may be engaged in a slot in the arm 1. The stools may be dispensed with and the rollers mounted on one end of each section and adapted to lock the two sections directly together.
