Abstract

508,791. Coating surfaces. SOC. ANON. CRISTALLEX. Jan. 3, 1938, No. 148. Convention date, Jan. 14, 1937. [Class 95] Plates, slabs or panels for use in the facing of walls, for shop fronts, or in the manufacture of furniture, are prepared by coating a decorative support of wood, cork, asbestos, fibre, cement, slate or marble with a layer of polyvinyl chloracetate powder and applying heat and pressure. The decorative, e.g. painted, support is heated to expel traces of water or solvents, coated with a layer of varnish having a basis of a polyvinyl resin, e.g. polyvinyl chloracetate, reheated to evaporate the solvent of the varnish, coated with powdered polyvinyl chloracetate, heated in a stove to fuse the resin and then subjected to heat and pressure in a press. Specification 441,622 is referred to. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, any polyvinyl resin may be used, and the plates may be used for the manufacture of gramophone records. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
