Abstract
508,287. Tents. WITHINGTON, A. Dec. 21, 1938, No. 37220. [Class 20 (i)] A tent for use with a motor car or other support comprises a flexible envelope supported by an internal upper collapsable framework, b, c, provided with a central support d, and an external supporting arm for supporting the framework and adapted at one end to be secured to the upper surface of a motor car body or other fixed support. The arm e may be formed in two parts hinged at p, and may be secured by bolts m to a plate n on the car f, or the arm e may be of elbow shape, Fig. 5, and secured to the car at one end and to a perforated arm t also secured to the car. Alternatively, the end of the arm e may enter a socket provided on the upper surface of a car or a forked socket r secured to the upper end of a fence or similar upright support. The tent envelope may be provided with a slit adapted to be closed. by a sliding clasp fastener or, alternatively, the fabric may have cords attached to its lower end and to the upper supporting frame, whereby it may be raised concertina fashion.
