Abstract
507,681. Mounting motors. VOIGT, C A. Feb. 15, 1938, No. 4623. Convention date, Feb. 15, 1937. [Class 79 (iii)] , [Also in Group XXXIII] A power-unit is resiliently mounted in a vehicle by attachment to the free end of a carrier-member or members secured to the vehicle by rubber-mountings spaced-apart longitudinally of the vehicle. In one form, the member 3, Fig. 1, is anchored in the motor block at 4 and held by a mounting plate 5. The member passes into an aircraft and is mounted in rubber sleeves 7, 13 supported in the end walls of the fuselage 9 and in a bulkhead 11. In a modification, the member 3 telescopes into or onto a tube built into the vehicle body. In a further modification, an aero-engine 1, Fig. 3, is secured to a frusto-conical member 14 mounted through the Intermediary of rubber sleeves 19, 20 on the wing spars 21, 22. In a further form, the member 3 is housed in a recess in the body. In a still further form, a member 24, Fig. 6, projects from the body and is resiliently secured to the member 3, the axis of which passes through the centre of gravity S of the engine unit. The engine may be supported by two laterally-spaced members.
