Abstract
506,716. Revolving-cylinder reciprocating pumps. POSCH, O. Nov. 30, 1937, 1767/39. Divided out of and addition to 506,647. [Class 102 (i)] In a fuel-injection or other pump comprising a cylindrical member 11 eccentrically disposed within an annular member 13, these two members being coupled by one or more pistonlike projections 14 on one member slidably engaging a cylinder-like recess 12 in the other member as the two members rotate together inside a casing 18, 19, 21, said cylinder-like recess being periodically placed in communication with inlet and outlet ports, the axes of rotation of the members 11, 13 being normally fixed relative to each other, and the pistonlike projection providing an articulated coupling between these two members, as described in the parent Specification, the side walls 19, 21 of the casing are formed with two substantially kidney-shaped shallow grooves 16, 26 which respectively place the recess 12 into communication periodically with the fluid induction pipe 17 and the fluid delivery pipe 23. The quantity of fluid delivered and the timing of the delivery stroke may be regulated by rotating an intermediate ring 28 within which the annular member 13 is mounted by means of roller bearings 27, the ring 28 being eccentric to the axis of the driving shaft 9 of 'the cylindrical member 11 and in direct sliding contact with the end wall 18 of the casing. Rotation is effected by means of a handle on a shaft 31 carrying a pinion 32 and driving teeth 33 on part of the circumference of the ring 28. Alternatively, the end wall 18 may be made displaceable with respect to the side walls 19, 21, the timing may be independent of the quantity adjustment, or the quantity may be regulated by means of a byepass valve in the delivery pipe 23.,
