Abstract
505,566. Ignition-systems. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and ROBINSON, T. F. Nov. 11, 1937, No. 31031. [Class 7 (iv)] Each half of the voltage wave of an alternator A charges a condenser C. The charging circuit is then broken at the switch B<1> and discharge occurs into the coil primary P by way of the switch B<2>. The charging voltage may be limited by a condenser C<2> across the terminals of the switch B<1>. An auxiliary condenser C<3> may also be connected in parallel with the main condenser C to provide the necessary energy at low speeds, the circuit of the auxiliary condenser being manually or automatically controlled by a switch S.. An output limiting condenser C<1> may also be shunted across the alternator. The switches B<1>, B2 may be combined, one movable lever carrying two contacts which complete the charging and discharging circuits alternately.
