Abstract

PURPOSE:To stop an engine safely and securely by a method wherein an auxiliary thyristor is connected between terminals for capacitor changing coils, and a divided potential to impress on a gate is limited by operating a stop switch to get the auxiliary thyristor conductive. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary thyristor 11 is connected between terminals for condenser charging coils 1, 2 of a magneto-generator, and an output of a potential circuit 12 for resistances 12a, 12b is connected to a gate. A capacitor 6 is charged by a forward output of the coils 1, 2, a backward output is supplied to the primary coil of a transformer 4, the secondary coil output gets in the gate of an ignition thyristor 5 to discharge the capacitor 6 to ignition 9. Upon opening a stop switch 13, a gate signal exceeding the gate trigger level is applied to the auxiliary thyristor 11 through the potential circuit 12, the thyristor 11 is thus conducting, the output of the coils 1, 2 is then short-circuited to limit the charging of condenser 6 and also to limit the discharging of an ignition plug 9, thereby stopping an engine safely and securely.
