Abstract
504,936. Fluid - pressure. brakes. BOSCH AKT.-GES., R. Nov. 2, 1937, No. 29902. Convention date, Nov. 2, 1936. [Class 103 (i)] The cut-off valve 10 in the brake pipe 6 of a trailer is automatically returned to the position permitting braking by a spring 15 and by the admission of pressure fluid to the brake pipe from the tractor when the brake pipe is coupled up. When the trailer brake pipe 6 is disconnected from the tractor the release of fluid from the normally charged brake pipe causes a valve 5 to connect the reservoir 9 to the brake cylinder 1 and apply the brakes. To move the trailer by hand the brakes must be released by turning the cut-off valve 10 which connects the reservoir 9 by pipe 11 to the brake pipe 6 and the valve 5 is operated to connect the brake cylinder to atmosphere. In case the valve 10 should be left in this position with the pipe 6 closed to the tractor when trailer and tractor are coupled the valve-return spring 15 is provided as shown in Fig. 3. The spring 15 is not strong enough to turn the valve 10 until pressure fluid is admitted to the space 17 by passage 16 from the tractor in order to release the valve from its seating. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes an arrangement having a valve 15 which is sufficiently strong to turn the valve 10 without admission of fluid above the valve. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
