Abstract
504,837. Motor fuels. STANDARD OIL DEVELOPMENT CO. Nov. 3, 1937, No. 30142. Convention date, Dec. 21,1936. Addition to 445,503: [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 20, 1938.] [Class 91] Anti-knock agents for motor fuels of gasoline boiling range consist of ethers boiling above 95 C. and having the formula R.O-R<1>, where R and R<1> are hydrocarbon radicals, one or both of which is a branched aliphatic radical, preferably containing a tertiary carbon atom. Ethers specified are, tertiary-butyl secondarybutyl, tertiary-butyl n-propyl, teitiary-amyl isobutyl, tertiary-butyl isobutyl, di-secondary- . butyl and, tertiary-butyl isopropyl ether, and compounds (CH3)3.C.CH2.O.R, where R is isopropyl or isobutyl. Lead tetraethyl, tetra methyl, or tetraisopropyl, tin tetraethyl, bismuth trimethyl, iron or nickel carbonyl may be present.
