504,470. Motor spirit. STANDARD OIL DEVELOPMENT CO. Nov. 3, 1937, No. 30141. Convention date, Dec. 18, 1936. Addition to 445,503. [Class 91] Motor spirit is composed of gasoline and a miscible liquid ether R.O.R<1> in which R<1> is ethyl and R is a branched aliphatic hydrocarbon group. The ether may constitute 5-75 per cent of the mixture. A metalloorganic compound, e.g. lead tetra-ethyl or tetra-methyl, tin tetra-ethyl, bismuth trimethyl, or iron or nickel carbonyl may be added; 01-10À0 cc. per gallon of fuel is suitable. Ethers'specified are isopropyl ethyl, tertiary-butyl ethyl tertiary-amyl ethyl, and (CH3)3.C.CH2.O.C2H5. Specification 486,631 is referred to.
