Abstract

504,526. Electron multipliers; image dissectors. FARNSWORTH TELEVISION, Inc. July 20, 1938, No. 21521. Convention date, Aug. 17, 1937. [Class 39.(i)] In an image dissector for use in television systems, the composite electron stream from the photo-cathode 2 is moved over the aperture 12 in a dissector tube 6, which contains a number of electron-multiplying electrodes 20, 22, 26, 27, 29, 31 and a collector-grid anode, 30; behind the aperture 12 are arranged smaller apertures 15, 21. Accelerating grids 24, 25 are provided on the electrodes 22,26, 27, 29. An evacuating tubulation 32 is provided at one end of the envelope, and a separator tubulation 10, 11 for the multiplying electrodes and cathode 2 ; the tube 6 is supported by a return press 7 and in a recess 9, from which the tubulation 10 leads. Magnetic focusing and deflecting means are used for the composite stream.
