Abstract

504,311. Closing cartons. WATSON, V. H., and WATSON, N. V. Dec. 14, 1937, No. 34619. [Classes 66, 94 (i), and 94 (ii)] A carton of waxed paper &c. sealable by heat and pressure, is characterized in that ragged or fibre-like tissues 4a, 6a are formed on the carton material at the sealing zone which become intimately embedded in the fused wax when the sealing surfaces are pressed together. The ragged tissues may be formed by engaging the sealing surfaces with a rotating disc furnished with stiff wires or needles. The sealing pressure is preferably applied below the top crease 5 so as to form a bead 8 into which wax will be extruded. The sealing apparatus is set forth in Specification 504,326.
