Abstract

474,880. Closures for bottles. THORNTON, A. A. (Gutmann & Co., F.) March 3, 1937, No. 6311. [Class 125 (iii)] A closure for a bottle &c. comprises an outer closure member 15 having a skirt 17 which co-operates with the neck of the bottle, a separable closure disc consisting of a facing disc 20 of highly flexible non-absorbent material, a backing disc 21 of thicker compressible material, and a stratum of adhesive 22 bonding the two discs. A heat fusible dry adhesive is imposed on the exposed surface of the facing disc adjacent the edge thereof, for engaging the bottle neck. The upper portion of the skirt 17 may be of larger diameter than the lower, so that the closure disc is movable therein. The facing disc may be covered with a dry, heat fusible adhesive, and may be of metal foil, while the backing disc may be of pulp board.
