Abstract

401,616. Closures for bottles &c. THORNTON, A. A., 7, Essex Street, Strand, London.-(Gutmann & Co., F. ; 39th Street, Bush Terminal, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.) June 22, 1933, No. 17800. [Class 125 (iii).] A closure for bottles, &c., of the re-seal type, comprises a thin, non- compressible, primary sealing disc 15 of a material affording an anchorage for an adhesive or cement and of a diameter to span and lap the top of the bottle outlet, a facing disc 16 of non-absorbent impermeable material immune to deterioration from contact with the contents of the bottle, and of a diameter to expose the margin of the primary disc to facilitate bonding of the latter to the bottle, and a stratum 17 of bonding material such as gutta-percha securing said discs together. Adhesive 18 may be applied dry to the margin of the disc 15, the edge of the bottle being moistened on application of the closure, or may be applied while viscous to the bottle edge. A screw cap 10, containing a gasket 11 and facing disc 14, may then be applied to force the disc 15 into sealing engagement with the bottle edge. Specification 367,366 is referred to.
