Abstract

416,808. Closures for bottles &c. THORNTON, A. A., 7, Essex Street, Strand, London.-(Gutmann & Co., F. ; 39th Street, Bush Terminal, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.) June 22, 1933, No. 17801. [Classes 125 (i) and 125 (iii).] A closure for bottles &c. comprises a tubular body portion 10 of rigid non- metallic material, e.g. that known under the Registered Trade Mark " Bakelite," having inwardly directed projections, as shown screwthreads, co-operating with attaching means on the bottle neck, a shell 12 of deformable sheet material-e.g. half-hard drawing metal-having a top extending across one end of and a skirt enclosing and permanently secured to said tubular portion, and a sealing disc located between the shell and the tubular portion, which disc is compressed between the bottle mouth and the shell when the closure is applied. As shown the disc 15 has a supplemental disc 16. The end of a sediment collector may pass through these discs, being retained by bending the point over. In a modification, the disc 15 rests on a ledge on the inside of the part 10, its upper face being then flush with the top of the said part, and in contact with a flat shell top.
