Abstract
504,161. Planing wood. KIRCHNER, E. May 5, 1938, No. 13495. Convention date, May 5, 1937. [Class 145 (i)] In wood planing and like machines in which the rotary cutter 2 is arranged above the work 4 and the pressure beam 5 is concave to the cutter and terminates in a tongue forming the pressure edge 7, the pressure beam is adjustable in such a direction that the pressure edge moves in a plane E<1>-E<1> which is perpendicular to the plane E containing the axis of the cutter and the lowest position of the pressure edge. The pressure beam 5 is pivoted at 8 to the lateral cheeks 9 of a cross-beam 10 slidable on guides 11 parallel to the plane E<1>-E<1>. The pivotal movement of the pressure beam is limited by a projection 26 and it is pressed down on to the work by springs 12. The cheeks 9 of the cross-beam 10 are provided with an abutment 26 to limit the thickness of the work which can be introduced. A scale 27 indicates the thickness of the shaving.
