Abstract

504,038. Safety fuzes. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Oct. 18, 1937, No. 28372. Convention date, Oct. 16, 1936. [Class 9 (i)] According to the invention, the covering 12 of the powder core 10 of a safety fuze is made of fused mineral material such as glass fibres or mineral wool from blown rock or slag, instead of the usual textile materials. The centre thread 11 usually made of paper may also be made of this fused mineral material, which may also be used for the outer coverings. The usual outer coverings shown are a layer 13 of asphaltum, guttapercha or the like, a paper lining 14, countering strands 15 in tension, and an outer coating 16 of wax or the like.
