Abstract

513,903. Cement-fibre compositions. LEFEBURE; V., DUNN, J. S., WALLACE, N. E., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 22, 1938, No. 5511. [Classes 22 and 70] A cement-fibre composition comprises blast furnace slag, calcium sulphate, a lime-containing or lime-producing exciter, e.g., Portland cement clinker, and fibrous material, e.g., asbestos, slag wool or organic fibres such as jute and sisal. Preferably, the fibre is asbestos, in amounts of from 5 to 25 per cent. by weight of the composition. The fineness of the cement may be such that at least 60 per cent. by weight of the slag, at least 50 per cent. of the exciter, and at least 60 per cent. of the whole cement, comprise particles not exceeding 30 microns in diameter, as described in Specification 513,897. The calcium sulphate constituent is preferably calcium sulphate hemihydrate, as described in Specification 513,901.
