[Class 146 (i)j A, loose-leaf binder is provided with two sets of filing prongs 3, 4, each made by suitably bending a length of wire as shown, and secured to a cover 1 by a single strip of material 2, so that one or both of the sets may be swung from the closed to the open position and vice versa. In the arrangement shown in the Figure, which is for holding a number of leaves in stepped order, the prongs 3 are complete semicircles in shape and project through holes in the strip 2. They can be pivoted about the axis of the wire 3 and are secured in the closed position by a sheet-metal strip 7 which engages a recess in the tip of the end prong. The prongs 4 are of half the length of the prongs 3 and the ends 5, 6 of the wire carrying them are turned-in to prevent rotation of these prongs. In order to facilitate the insertion and removal of sheets, slots 19 may be provided in the strip 2 to allow of longitudinal movement of the prongs 4. Halfprongs may be formed on the rod 3 opposite to the prongs 4. Instead of the locking-strip 7, a plate extending the full depth of the cover may be employed so as to engage the ends of all the prongs 3.
