Abstract
473,811. Loose-leaf books. STIBANE, R. Nov. 18, 1936, No. 31562. Convention date, Dec. 3, 1935. [Class 146 (i)] In a loose-leaf book having posts or prongs 7, 8 for engaging unslotted perforations in the leaves, post-like members or guides 9 engaging slotted perforations in the leaves are provided whereby the leaves can be passed from one set of posts or prongs to the other set when the book is fully opened. As applied to a book in which the prongs 7, 8 are mounted on arcuate plates 4, 5 hinged together and to the edges of a spring-back 3, each member 9 has a circular section and is formed integrally with a flat plate 10 twisted at its lower end 11 and formed with a hole to receive the hinge-pin 6 of the plates 4, 5. When the book is fully opened, the inner edges of the plates 4, 5 bear against the ends 11 and hold the members 9 in their central position so as to bridge the gap between the prongs 7, 8. As applied to a binder in which the posts are straight and carried by flat bars provided with guide rods slidable in a flat back-member, the members 9 are straight and are fixed to the back.
