Abstract

502,990. Brushes. SCHNELL, F. W. April 27, 1938, No. 12593. Convention date, June 7, 1937. [Class 19] A motor driven rotary brush for cleaning floors &c. comprises a motor 1 the casing 2 of which is provided at the top with a handle 3 and at the bottom with flange 4 to which is bolted a circular plate 6 having a sleeve 9 depending therefrom axially of the armature shaft 8. The latter has a bore 11 in which is secured by a pin a spindle 12 extending through a bearing bushing 16 secured in the end of the sleeve 9; the end of the spindle 12 is threaded and has secured thereto by nuts 14 a disc 13 to which the backing plate 20 of the annular brush 19 is fixed by screws 21. A dust guard 23 is secured above the brush by means of clamp nuts 27 on the threaded end 26 of the sleeve 9 and nuts 29 on stay bolts 28 screwed into the plate 6 on the motor casing. A hand grip 30 projects laterally from the sleeve 9 and is provided with a strap 31 for securing the hand thereto. Current is supplied to the device by leads 33, 34 connected to a plug received in a plug socket 36 on the casing, a switch' 37 on the handle 30 connected by leads 39 to the socket 36 enabling the motor to be started and stopped by a finger of the hand grasping the handle 30.
