Abstract

Driving-arrangements. - Descaling and other rotary tools are driven by means of a flexible. shaft p from an enclosed electric motor which is provided at one end of the casing a with a projecting spigot coaxial with the spindle j, and the spigot receives a rigid tubular extension h carrying at its outer end the casing o of the flexible shaft. The -extension h is screwed on to the spigot and has at its outer end a split sleeve m which serves to clamp the casing of the flexible shaft. The flexible shaft is connected to the motor spindle by a sleeve or other coupling q. The motor is bolted to a wheeled running frame c which also carries the starter e, and the casing is provided with the usual ring bolts or handles f, g for lifting purposes. If the motor is required to operate. away from the running frame, the starter may be bolted to the base.
