502,961. Dehydrogenated hydrocarbons. JOHNSON, G. W. (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.) July 27, 1937, No. 20768. [Class 1 (i)] [Also in Group IV] Benzines obtained by reduction of carbon monoxide are dehydrogenated and /or converted into aromatic hydrocarbons by treatment at 350-500‹ C. in presence of a catalyst comprising alumina with a smaller proportion of a sixth group metal or compound. In an example the catalyst consists of 3 parts of alumina and one part of molybdenum trioxide, and the reaction temperature is 460‹ C The product has an octane number of 60 and contains 35 per cent of aromatic hydrocarbons.
