Abstract
501,863. Plant for making ice-cream. CHERRY-BURRELL CORPORATION. Jan. 11, 1938, No. 892. Convention date, Jan. 12, 1937. [Class 28 (i)] [Also in Group XVII] In apparatus for filling receptacles with plastic substances, such as semi-frozen icecream, the ice-cream passes from a pressure freezer 12 (fed by a pipe 13 past a meter 15, air-inlet 14 and pump 16) through a conduit 11, nuts. &c. being added at 17 if desired, and into a cone-shaped nozzle 20, the largest diameter of which approximates to that of the receptacle 10. This shape allows of gradual expansion of the contained air and maintains an even distribution of the contained nuts &c: A grating 36 supports the material in the nozzle during the changing of receptacles. The nozzle may be vertically slidable on the conduit and may be counterbalanced. In another form, Fig. 5, the nozzle comprises two conical sections 42, 43, and cylindrical sections 44, 45, the latter conforming substantially to the cross-section of the receptacle. When the receptacle isvertically movable, as in Fig. 1, it is supported on a platform 21 supported by sliding rods 22 and springs 24. Spring detents 26 hold the platform at the bottom of its travel during the changing of receptacles.
