Abstract
501,290. Hinges. BEALE, E. S. L., and DOBBIE McINNES, Ltd. Aug. 24, 1937, No. 23157. [Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Group XIX] In a link motion transmission for a pressure recording device such as an engine indicator one of the hinge pin bearings is made of large area and with little clearance to give a damping motion. The pin 13 is clamped to a stanchion 11a and between stanchions 11a, 11b by a thumb nut 14 and bolt 15 which latter has a retaining screw 15a to prevent accidental removal and loss of nut 14. The large outer surface of pin 13 is separated from the large surface of a hollow cylindrical sleeve 16 forming part of one link 5 by a minute clearance space in which is a film of viscous fluid retention of which is facilitated by grooves 17 in the pin 13. The pin 13 may be released by screwing back the nut 14, the pin 13 and sleeve 16 then rocking together about the pin 15 like the usual joint, ordinary lubricant being supplied between pins 13 and 15.
