Abstract

392,720. Tipping vehicles. TAYLOR, J. W., 23, William. Street, Rochdale. April. 5, 1932, No. 9712. [Class 108 (i).] In tipping - mechanism wherein a screw is employed in conjunction with a non-rotary nut which is oscillatable about two axes to alignment of the nut and screw, the nut is held by a divided housing having trunnions and is provided with two flat and two curved surfaces so that it may oscillate only about an axis at right-angles to the trunnions. The divided housing 4, 5 held together by bolts 6, 7 is provided with trunnions 8 arranged parallel to the tipping axis in bearings 3. The interior of the housing is provided with two flat surfaces 9 and two curved surfaces 10 either spherical or cylindrical. A nut for the screw 12 is disposed therein and has similar surfaces 13 .. 16 so that a movement of the screw 12 to adapt itself to the inclination of the tipping body is accommodated by the nut, the movement of which is divided between itself and its housing thereby diminishing wear on any one part.
