Abstract

289,606. Robertshaw, C. S. March 18, 1927. Tipping wagons.-In tipping vehicles of the kind provided with a rotatable screw to tip the body the screw is mounted on a gear box which permits it to swivel in any plane without disengaging the teeth of the gears. As shown the screw j is provided with a gear h which is in constant mesh with an intermediate gear c and is mounted in bearings k which are pivoted on the shaft or spindle d of the intermediate gear c. The spindle d is mounted in a box e having trunnions f to permit it to swivel in a direction at right angles to that of the bearing k. The driving gears a in gear with the gear c are mounted on shafts b which are rotatable in the hollow trunnions f. Abutments m, n are provided to prevent the gears a, h fouling when the screw j swivels.
