Abstract

501,070. Maternity corsets. JACKS, M. L. Aug. 30, 1937, No. 23725. [Class 141]. A maternity corset comprises an upper front portion 1 which is connected to the edges of a side and back portion 3 by lacing 6, and is provided with a central slit which is closed by a sliding-clasp fastener 7, and a lower front portion consisting of a pair of elastic flaps 2 which are stitched to the edges of the portion 3, and are connected together by lacing 5. Insert pieces 70 serve as backings for the lacings 6 and corresponding eyelet holes, and a similar backing piece is provided for the fastener 7. The upper part of the back of the corset is provided with a stiffened pad 13. In a modification, the corset is formed from interwoven elastic thread, the upper front portion having an inelastic backing secured thereto.
