[Class 141] A foundation garment comprises a girdle section 5 having a front upper vertically stretchable panel 9 provided with curved upper margins 15 to extend around and beneath the wearer's breasts, and with a central extension 16 to extend between the wearer's breasts, and high cut side panels 10 preferably elastic to extend beneath the wearer's armpits and preferably terminating at their forward upper portions in peaks 14, shoulder straps 17 extending from the rear upper edge of the girdle, and each having front divergent branches 23, 24 which are attached respectively to the upper edge of the extension 16, and to one of the peaks 14. The garment also incorporates a strapless brassiere section 6 which is provided at its upper edge with elastic members 27 which are detachably secured to members 33 provided on the shoulder straps 17. The rear of the brassiere has secured thereto an elastic strap 30 which carries a hook 31 adapted to engage one of a number of eyelets 32 in the rear upper part of the girdle. The brassiere is provided with rear elastic portions 29 adapted to be detachably secured together, and the girdle comprises front and rear lower inelastic panels 8, 11 and rear upper elastic inserts 13.
