501,961. Maternity corsets. BERGER BROS. CO. Aug. 12, 1938, No. 23845. Convention date, Jan. 24. [Class 141] A maternity corset comprises a rear panel 10 of inelastic material to the side edges of which is adjustably secured by straps and buckles 23, 24, an inelastic abdominal belt 25, inelastic side panels 11, 12, provided with openings extending vertically from the upper edge thereof to the level of the groin, the edges of the openings being connected together by elastic lacings 27, 28, and inelastic front panels 15, 16, connected together throughout their length by an elastic lacing 17, the panel 16 being connected to the panel 12 by hooks and eyes 18, 19. The side panels are provided with elastic gores 13, 14. The eyelets 29, Fig. 5, through which the lacing 27, or 28, is passed are disposed below the outer surface of the corset so that the lacing is substantially flush with the surface of the corset, and stiffening members 30, Fig. 4, capable of flexing in the plane, and perpendicular to the plane, of the corset are provided at the edges of the side openings.
