[Class 141] A corset is provided with detachable fastening means at one side of the front thereof, and comprises a front section provided with eyeletted strips 10, 11, which are adjustably connected together, e.g. by means of a lacing 14, and a transversely elastic apron 20 which is stitched at one edge thereof to the corset, and is detachably secured at its other edge to the corset, e.g. by means of a sliding-clasp fastener 22, 23, so as to overlie the eyeletted strips 10, 11, and the lacing 14. The width of the elastic apron 20 when unstretched does not exceed that of the underlying portion of the corset when adjusted by the lacing 14 to its minimum width. In a modification, the apron 20 may consist of two pieces of material each stitched along one edge to the corset, the inner edges of the two pieces being detachably secured together by means of a sliding clasp fastener. In a further modification, Fig. 5, the corset is combined with a brassiere, and the latter is provided at its lower edge with a tab 29 terminating in a hook 30 adapted to engage one of a number of vertically spaced eyelets 31 provided in the front of the corset, to maintain the brassiere in position. In this modification, the eyeletted strips and part of the front lacing are adapted to be concealed.
