Abstract
500,442. Iadiarubber springs. BINNS, W. Sept. 28, 1937, No. 26283. [Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Group V] A rubber cushioning material is made up of a porous rubber body 6, Fig. 1, having at the back a plurality of channels or the like to form air pockets, and a flexible backing material 1 secured to the rubber and conforming to the shape of the channels. The material may be mounted on a rigid backing 11 and surfaced with a layer of fabric or solid rubber 10. A process for manufacture, shown diagrammatically in Fig. 2, comprises supporting a backing material 1 on a plurality of curved members 3, spreading an incoagulated latex foam 6 on the backing material from a hopper 5 or the like, controlling the thickness of the layer with a scraper or roller 7 and vulcanizing the rubber in a heating-chamber 8.
