[Class 122 (v)] An annular U-section seal of pliable elastic material, e.g. soft rubber, has one limb 2 secured by the cover 4 of a centrifugal pump, and the other, shorter limb 6 engages the impeller. The axial width of the member is such that it is compressed when in position. The seal is also under liquid pressure in space 18. The seal may be arranged between stationary and rotational members, or between relatively rotary members.
