Abstract
499,593. Moulding dough &c. CHRISTIANSEN, E., and ERICSSON, C. O. July 22, 1937, No. 20277. [Class 87 (ii)] In a device for dividing dough or the like from a bulk supply of the type in which the dough is separated from the bulk in a hopper by a cutter and fed forward by a plunger, the knife and plunger are first moved forward together, the knife being in advance of the plunger, the plunger is then advanced in relation to the knife until it reaches the front edge, and finally the knife and plunger are moved forward together to the discharge opening. The cut-off knife 2 and the plunger 1 slide horizontally in a chamber 4 across the bottom of the hopper 3 and are actuated by a lever device 10 which has a slot 12 engaging a roller 11 carried by the plunger and a second slot 9 engaging a roller 8 carried by the knife. One side 9a of the slot 9 is shorter than the other so that, on the forward movement of the lever 10, the slot 9 will disengage from the roller 8 and allow the knife to move forward alone until the bracket 14 on the plunger engages the bracket 15 on the knife, when both will again move forward together. The dough is forced into chambers 6 in a depositing drum 5 from which it is ejected by plungers 16. The lever 10 is rocked by a crank 21 and may be formed in two parts 13, 13a connected by a spring 17 which yields under excessive strain.
