[Also in Group VI] In a pump, e.g. for feeding jam to doughnuts, jam is fed from a container into a cylinder 1 containing a piston 3 and a measured quantity is ejected from the nozzle when a doughnut or the like is pushed over the nozzle 4. The rear end of each piston 3 projects from its cylinder 1 and is connected by link 7 to the end of a spring 8 whose other end is secured to a bracket by an adjusting screw 14. The springs 8 tend to move plungers 3 back in the cylinders 1 so that they are positioned at least partly clear of the ends of pipes 6 through which the jam is fed by gravity from the container. Each plunger is operated to eject jam by a solenoid 10 with a core 11 connected through a link 12 to a lever 13 pivoted to the corresponding link 7. The solenoid circuits are completed by the microswitch 17 which is operated when doughnuts are pushed on to nozzles 4. The micro-switch is operated by a plate 19 resting against a head 21 secured to a rod 22 whose other end engages blade 23 to operate the micro-switch 17. The head 21 is biased by a spring 24 to open the switch when the doughnut is removed.
