3771. Callow, J., and Callow, H. L. Feb. 15. Cylinder machines.-In cylinder dough dividing machines of the type described in Specifications 1986/03 and 22,250/08, the cylinder 2 is arranged partly within the hopper 4 so as to feed the dough into the compression chamber 5, from which it is forced into the moulds 1 by the plunger 6. A cut-off slide 7 is provided above the plunger 6, and is so connected thereto that it is closed at the commencement of the forward stroke of the plunger and withdrawn just prior to the completion of the return stroke. Fig. 1 shows one form of gearing for operating the slide 7, comprising a rack 11 engaged by a large pinion 13 mounted co-axially with a small pinion 15 gearing with a rack 16 on the plunger. Fig. 2 shows a modification in which an arm 27 on the plunger-operating rod 26 engages with a forked lever 22 connected to the slide 7.
