Abstract
499,455. Water-tube steam boilers. SPANNER, E. F. July 19, 1938, No. 21383. [Class 123 (ii)] Thimble-tube steam boilers or water heaters of vertical annular type have an outwardly dished furnace crown plate 4 passing a U -shaped annular trough between the thimble tube plate 2 and the outer shell 3. Fuel is fed by gravity on to a grate past an exposed portion of the furnace crown. Other furnace arrange. ments provide an oil or gas burnei directed vertically through the furnace bottom or horizontally through the side.
