499,237. Piston-rings. CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA AKCIOVA SPOLECNOST, BRNO. Jan. 7, 1938, No. 583. Convention date, Jan. 7, 1937. [Class 122 (i)] The first piston-ring 2 is of material of high heat conductivity, e.g. aluminium, silicon, or copper alloys, and is of greater axial height and radial thickness than the other rings; the height being at least 6 per cent of the thickness at least 4 per cent of the piston diameter. The groove may be open towards the piston head and provided with a wear resisting insert, a cover-plate being provided to retain the ring in position. Alternatively, the ring may be of stepped form, as shown, and a wear resisting insert 9 provided in the groove. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also the construction shown in Fig. 1 (Cancelled) which includes a packing retaining ring 5. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
