Abstract

498,681. Supplying current to moving conductors ; arc lamps. SPERRY GYROSCOPE CO., Ltd., and CLOUSTON, C. E. July 9, 1937, No. 19127. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XL] A clamp for conveying current to a cylindrical conductor, such as an arc lamp carbon, consists of at least three blocks, relatively movable and bearing on lines or narrow strips parallel to the axis of the conductor. In the arrangement shown the conductor 1 rests in a groove in a block 3. To the block 3 is pivoted a block 6 and to the block 6 a block 7, both of which are pressed on to the conductor 1 by a spring 12 attached to hooked lugs 13, 15 on the blocks 3, 7. The blocks are connected by a flexible conductor 16, and may be provided with renewable conducting faces, formed as inserts or otherwise, bearing on the conductor.
